Music and songs of the 20s, 30s and 40s will feature in a concert to be given by The Bert Firman Orchestra at Kidderminster Library on July 19.

The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Geoff Howl, a popular society member, who died in April.

Geoff was a collector of 78rpm records, his speciality being music hall, jazz and British dance bands. He worked at society chairman Terry Wilkinson's shop, "The Music Room" in Walsall, and was also a member of the London Phonographic and Gramophone Society.

The concert in July will feature a selection of Geoff's favourite pieces, by Gershwin, Kern, Duke Ellington, Harry Warren and many others. The orchestra will be directed by Guy Rowland, and Claire Worboys will be guest vocalist.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Terry on 01562 751527, Guy on 01543 377047 or Kidderminster Library.
