AIR Ambulance staff made a flying visit to Evesham last week to pick up a very special cheque.
They dropped in at Simon de Montfort Middle School to pick up a £20,000 donation from headmaster Gerry Burgess.
The money was raised by Vale people following the death of six-month-old Danny Sheward - Mr Burgess's grandson - in a road accident last year.
Danny's families were so impressed with the emergency's efforts to save him, that they launched the Danny Shew Appeal in aid of the County Air Ambulance. Mr Burgess was the co-ordinator for fund-raising events, including coffee mornings, sponsored sing-alongs and walks.
The £20,000 has gone towards the cost of a new helicopter which was recently commissioned by the Princess Royal at RAF Cosford.
