WHEN the going gets tough- the tough get going, to Pershore High School.
The Royal Marines came to the school last Friday (June 15) to take part in a school initiative aimed at improving numeracy across a range of subjects.
The Marines were among guests to the school helping groups of students on problem-solving activities, while others made and tested vehicles and even had a barbecue.
Mr Tony Herbert, head of mathematics, put forward the idea for the day, involving staff and students working on problems concerning energy, which was the main theme
Clive Corbett, deputy head, said: "It was altogether a wide range of activities bringing together traditionally separate school subjects and taking numeracy out of the mathematics classroom."
