A WORCESTER boy has been cautioned by police after assaulting a pupil from another school.
The victim, who attends Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High, went to hospital but was back behind his desk the following day.
He was attacked by a pupil from Christopher Whitehead High School during an incident in Hylton Road, Worcester, on Thursday, June 14.
Christopher Whitehead headteacher Allan Foulds said the incident had taken place "out of hours".
"I have been in discussions with parents and have liaised with the headteacher of the other school," said Mr Foulds.
"The boy responsible has been disciplined. I'm not aware of any other incidents and have spoken to a couple of the year groups in assembly about the fact that this school won't stand for that type of behaviour."
He added that he had no idea what had sparked the attack.
Blessed Edward headteacher John Ley dubbed the incident "a bit of nonsense".
"Mr Foulds and I have been in regular contact and this incident was handled by the police," he said.
"I understand the boy - a Year 9 pupil aged 13 to 14 - was taken to hospital by his parents for a check. He was back behind his desk the next day.
"I think the type of assault we are talking about was a thump. I haven't got to the bottom of what lies behind it but it seems to be a bit of nonsense.
"It has been dealt with in- house in that pupils have been spoken to and told this is not the behaviour we expect. The parents of the boy concerned have also been spoken to."
Worcester police spokeswoman Vicki Davies confirmed a schoolboy was cautioned following the incident.
