A TEAM of teachers and pupils from Hanley Castle High School are take the plunge for charity with sponsored parachute jumps.
The quartet - teachers Nick Hall and Natalie Watson and pupils Iain Stockton and Nick Davenport - will leap from an aircraft near Oxford on Sunday (June 24).
Psychology teacher Nick Hall and 18-year-old Nick Davenport have chosen to do a 3,000ft solo parachute jump using the latest static line square parachutes, which open automatically.
They will have to do six hours of training the day before the jump. Iain and science teacher Natalie Watson will be able to complete their jump and training in one day, having opted for a 10,000ft tandem parachute jump, with a 5,000ft free fall at 120mph.
"We have to raise at least £350 each for the mental health charity Mind and I've got just over £200 so far," said 16-year-old Iain.
The school is supporting them with a non-uniform day today (Friday). The jumpers would welcome any other sponsorship.
