BARNARDS Green Sunday 2nds entertained Malvern Ramblers 2nds in a Worcestershire Sunday Clubs League game.
BARNARDS GREEN 2ND XI v MALVERN RAMBLERS 2ND XI
The Green skipper won the toss and decided to put Ramblers into bat first. This proved to be a good decision as Brookes took two wickets in quick succession.
But B Scott showed good batting technique playing some lovely straight shots for four before Hooper dismissed him off a short ball in the 18th over at 59-4.
R Evans and I Walwyn played sensibly picking up singles and boundaries before Golder had Evans caught at square leg and Marshall bowled Walwyn. Marshall then went on to bowl both Mitchell and Thompson.
With the overs running out Hughes and Bird decided to open their arms picking up 17 runs off three overs before Hooper bowled Hughes and Brookes had Bird well stumped by Rogers for 13.
At the end of their allotted overs the Ramblers had reached 171 all out leaving the Green requiring just under four runs an over.
Barnards Green lost the wickets of Wajzer and Hooper within the first six overs. This brought Golder (45) to the crease and both he and Rogers started to dispatch the wayward bowling all over the ground.
In nine overs these two batsmen had put on 64 taking the Green to 84 for two off 15 overs. But both Rogers and Golder were dismissed trying to continue their batting style.
Rogers (30) caught by Croft and Golder caught by Mitchell. The dismissal of these two batsmen saw the Green batting once again fall to pieces with five batsmen going for six runs.
Ramblers' first team bowler Thompson (8-1-19-5) bowled well at the tail enders picking up three wickets and dismissing the dangerous R Longmore (28) who was showing some fight back.
Malvern Ramblers beat Barnards Green by 54 runs.
Barnards Green would like to thank match sponsors Andrew Colston Estate Agents.
This Sunday Malvern Ramblers 2nd XI are away at Feckenham, players will be notified.
