MALVERN United Angling Association members kicked off their new season calendar with the Ashwin Cup contest re-arranged from the river to the Club's pool.
It was feared that heavy rain on the previous day may put the fish off the feed but weights were impressive.
Jerry Thomas headed the list with an all carp catch of 31-1-0 to take the cup from Peg Two using pole and corn tactics.
Runner-up was veteran Malvern star Dave Harris who fished end Peg 23 and brought 22-0-0 to the scales. Dave also employed pole and corn tactics.
Third spot went to Ian Goddard with 16-2-0 from Peg 20. John Shaw was fourth with 14-8-0.
The next contest is the first in the Saturday Scramble Series this weekend (June 22).
