MALVERN Wanderers Under 9s completed a remarkable season in which they remained unbeaten when they won a six a side tournament hosted by Coventry City Football Club Development Centre at Gloucester on Sunday without conceding a goal.
In the league stage Malvern played six matches against teams from the Gloucester-shire League. Goalless draws in two matches and victories in the remaining matches 1-0, 4-0, and 2-0 set up a semi-final with the other representatives of the Mercian Elgar League, MCL Claines.
Malvern emerged 3-0 victors and played against Windsor Drive Aces in the final. At the end of a tense match the score remained goalless but Malvern secured the trophy having conceded fewer corners.
Congratulations to all the players especially Natalie Chadney who was the only girl in the tournament and made a number of match saving clearances and Bobsi Mackichan who played on despite injury.
Thanks to all the parents for their time, transport and support throughout the season and to the sponsors, P & S Tools.
Tournament goal scorers were Josh Asquith (8), Alex Wren (2) and Danny Perkins (2).
