LIKE Mrs Chambers, I have often wondered why the roof of the bus station was not extended to include the shopping area.
That apart, however, I consider Worcester shopping centre to be pleasant and attractive and in keeping with the historic city. We should also bear in mind that the Romans and mediaeval ecclesiastics did not foresee the requirements of the 20th Century, let alone the third millennium - hence the basic layout of the Faithful City presents some difficulties.
Personally, I regard Merry Hill as an abomination. To have had anything similar at Worcester would have necessitated the demolition of the entire centre of the existing city - is that what Mrs Chambers would like to have seen happen?
D E MARGRETT,
Worcester.
