A FURIOUS mum has branded High Street computer giant Tiny "underhanded" after her faulty machine was replaced with a second-hand one.

Donna Adkins says she now fears she is going to lose the £1,300 she paid for the Pentium 4 computer which was part of a birthday present for her three-year-old son Jordan.

The youngster still has computer games unopened after his birthday present failed to work properly.

The 24-year-old mum-of-two maintains she also received verbal abuse from staff at the company's technical helpline when she tried to seek advice.

"I think the company has been very underhanded in the way they have treated us," said Miss Adkins of Droitwich.

"This was meant to be my son's birthday present but when we received it the screen just kept coming up with error on it. When I rang the helpline they really spoke down to me and used foul language.

"When we finally got a replacement after waiting eight days, my partner found files on it, one of which was called Shag 1."

The assistant bar manager said she and her partner Richard, aged 23, were now waiting for a refund until the machine, which they returned to the company's store at Merry Hill, West Midlands, last Wednesday, has reached head office.

"I am now really scared we're not going to see our money," she said.

Suzy McMahon, marketing manager for Tiny, said the complaints were being looked at by the company and a refund for the computer was being forwarded to the couple.

"It is extremely strange that the second machine had files on it. As far as we are concerned it was brand new," she said.
