A MALVERN man has been jailed for five months after attacking another reveller while at a party.
Darren Lonsdale was sentenced by Droitwich magistrates after he admitted assault causing actual bodily harm.
Magistrates heard how the 22-year-old, also known as Scouser, had punched and kicked the man while at a home in Worcester's Landsdowne Road in March last year.
Kiernan Cunningham, prosecuting, said a fight broke out at 10.15pm after a remark, resulting in Lonsdale punching and kicking a man.
"A fight broke out and the defendant punched the injured party in the face then kicked him in the leg," said Mr Cunningham.
Barry Newton, defending, said Lonsdale, of Hanley Road, Malvern, had become a father since the offence and was beginning to mature.
"His potential to react to situations in this way is because of in event which happened in my client's past," he said.
"He now has a child and has a fairly stable existence and assessments would be on-going with him.
"The fact he's been incident-free for 15 months is a significant factor. He is clearly maturing from a family point of view."
But magistrates ordered Lonsdale to serve five months in prison as he had "failed to respond" to previous forms of community-based punishments.
