A GREEN-fingered youngster has won £500 for his school after coming third in an NEC garden show competition.
Jonathan Gray, who is seven and goes to Sytchampton First School, near Ombersley, took his busy lizzie to the NEC after beating 500 entrants to first prize in the Worcester Garden Centre competition.
The busy lizzie also won him a bag of goodies and £50, and he and his parents had the chance to talk to celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock.
"We are very proud of Jonathan. He took great care in looking after his busy lizzie," said headteacher Cynthia Evans.
"The money will go towards the completion of our conservation area."
This is not the first gardening success for Sytchampton First School, as last year it won a bench in another Worcester Garden Centre competition.
