WORCESTERSHIRE will be without injured Steve Rhodes, Paul Pollard and Matthew Rawnsley for tomorrow's Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy third round clash with Hertfordshire at Hertford.
All three are continuing to receive treatment after missing Sunday's 111-run Norwich Union League Division Two defeat against Glamorgan at Cardiff.
Rhodes' absence, due to a damaged calf muscle, will mean a County debut appearance in the Trophy for reserve wicketkeeper James Pipe, although he has previously tasted action in the competition with the Worcestershire Cricket Board.
Last season he hit 56 for the Board against their Kent counterparts at Kidderminster's Chester Road ground -- a score which remains his highest in limited-over cricket.
Rhodes is now rated as having only a '50-50' chance to be fit in time for Worcestershire's County Championship match against Nottinghamshire which opens at New Road on Friday.
Opener Pollard is unlikely to play against Notts having picked up a side strain during his century-making performance in last week's friendly with Durham UCCE.
Spinner Rawnsley is expected to overcome his foot infection in time to face Notts.
Vikram Solanki, who needed a runner at Cardiff on Sunday, has recovered from a groin injury and will play.
The County's Director of Cricket Tom Moody said: "We can't afford to take any game lightly and particularly this one.
"We had a little setback on Sunday and we'd like to get back into a winning momentum in one-day cricket. Hertfordshire is an ideal environment to do that."
Worcestershire go into tomorrow's clash keen to erase the memory of last season's bitter disappointment in the competition when the ECB Management Board ruled that the controversial game with Gloucestershire should be re-staged because Kabir Ali was ineligible for the original victory.
Gloucestershire turned their reprieve into a unique sequence of four consecutive victories in Lord's finals and, whether it was a coincidence or not, the County's season disintegrated from that point.
The winners of tomorrow's tie meet either Herefordshire or Middlesex in the fourth round at New Road on July 11.
