SAILING: Trimpley Sailing Club hosted two important national racing events recently.
Five boats competed for the prestigious GP14 Ladies' National Championship, including Hannah and Sophie Tissiman from the home club.
The three others were from South Staffs Sailing Club and Chelmarsh.
At the end of three close races, Liz Pugh and Carl Jeffs (South Staffs) were level on points with Sarah Allen and K Storey (Chelmarsh).
The trophy went to Pugh and Jeffs on discards.
On Sunday, the GP14 Open was won by Jeffs and crew Jim Toothill from Trimpley.
They took the first two of the three races sailed and were second in the third.
Hemsley and McManus, of Frensham Pond Sailing Club, were second overall and in third were Jonathon Sinclair and Pugh, of South Staffs.
There was an excellent turn-out of 20 competitors for the Open which is a part of the Midland Bell Series for GP14 dinghies.
Boats were from as far away as Nottingham and Frensham Pond and they were joined by nine sailors from the home club.
The weather was superb and the sailing was close and extremely competitive.
