JUST a handful of people from Redditch turned up to a meeting which outlined the dramatic multi-million pound redevelopment project due to take place at NEW College.
Last Wednesday, town businesses and residents were asked to the meeting to learn about the changes and offer their comments to architects, college representatives and project managers.
The meeting included a presentation by the project architects "D5", which included virtual images of the new buildings placed within the existing environment.
Plans include the redevelopment of the campus to provide students with a new, modern learning facility. Planning permission is now being sought for the demolition of certain buildings on the site to allow for the redevelopment.
Older buildings earmarked for demolition include the five-storey white tower visible from many locations around Redditch.
A college spokesman said: "A limited number of people chose to attend the meeting to hear the college architects present the proposals.
"Following the presentation, attendees were offered the opportunity to comment on the proposals and put forward suggestions.
"The college will consider all views in future planning, including those expressed concerning local children."
College principal Neil Bromley said: "We feel our proposals were generally well received and although we were disappointed that many of our neighbours were unable to attend, we are pleased with feedback we received from those who did.
"Dialogue will be continued throughout the planning process with all our neighbours.
"We hope they will be as excited as we are at the prospect of this spectacular new complex."
