A CELEBRATORY lunch was held at a Redditch school yesterday to mark its first two years as a Specialist Sports College.
Arrow Vale Community High School held the lunch to thank industry sponsors who between them have contributed nearly £100,000 to facilities.
A computer ICT suite was dedicated to the memory of former school governor Harold Haywood and a display of sport and dance was also laid on.
The lunch was also attended by former headteachers, John Smith and Ralph Richardson, and former Director of Sport Phil Poulton.
The school has also been given the prestigious Sportsmark Gold award from Sport England for the quality of its PE and sports.
Of 406 application for the award only 46 were successful.
The school will also mark its silver jubilee with a party at Hewell Road Social Club on Saturday, July 14. Students from 1976 onwards are invited to join staff, past and present. For tickets call Mr Satterthwaite on 526800.
