SPECULATION was running high this week that Bromsgrove Rovers' chief executive, Pat Bannister, has been sensationally sacked from the club by administrators called in to sort out its cash problems.
The man said to have been appointed by the administrator to take over temporary control of the club, with a view to heading a new consortium to run it permanently, is former Rovers' director Tom Herbert.
Mr Herbert is well acquainted with non-league football, and is presently a member of Bromsgrove Rovers Supporters' Society.
Neither Mr Herbert, club officials, or administrators Mayfields from Halesowen were prepared to talk to the Advertiser/Messenger as we went to press.
Rovers' president Charlie Poole, from Upton Warren, said he had not heard from the Bannisters, the administrator or the society.
But he stressed he is anxious to see the matter resolved swiftly before the start of the new season.
