REDDITCH Police are to continue clamping down on under-age drinkers and nuisance youths damaging schools.
The Advertiser reported a fortnight ago police at Crabbs Cross were stepping up dog patrols at schools and trouble hotspots after a spate of vandalism.
St Augustine's High School in Hunt End had 14 windows smashed and Walkwood Middle, Ridgeway Middle and Vaynor First schools have also suffered.
Pc Max Voyce of Crabbs Cross station said: "We have been suffering damage to the schools through kids drinking.
"They were leaving bottles and cans around and in some cases vandalising school property.
"But since we targeted patrols we've noticed a difference. We seized alcohol from a couple of youngsters and it seems the kids have realised we are clamping down."
Pc Voyce said the patrols will continue and police were also liaising with off licences in a bid to stamp out alcohol sales to children.
