THE annual outing, this year to Erddig House, near Wrexham, on June 16 was, as usual, meticulously planned by Mayrose Warner.
Erddig House was built in the 1680s for Joshua Edisbury, High Sheriff of Denbighshire.
The cost of building and other factors brought him to bankruptcy. Later the house was owned by the Yorke family, from whom it became a National Trust property.
There is a lot to see - the servants' quarters are very interesting (the Yorke family were very good to their staff), general contents fascinating social history.
The gardens were beautiful and thanks are extended to Mayrose.
Earlier in the week, a good number of members had attended the funeral of Iris Wilson at Emmanuel Church, Hollywood.
Iris was long-time member of the committee and much-loved by all.
She and her late husband, Campbell, worked hard for the society and brought a lot of joy. Condolences are sent to their son, Gareth.
The next meeting will be the garden party on July 7, at the Alvechurch home of Tom and Essillt Thomas.
Games, food and jollity will be the order of the day! New members are welcome - whether they speak Welsh or not.
