PARADOX: "A seemingly absurd or contradictory, though often true statement" - so says the dictionary.
In the case of one Redditch band which has taken that name, you could question the "absurd or contradictory" part but the fact they are making their own true statement is beyond doubt.
Paradox are a hard-working four-piece who have toured the Midlands pub circuit for four years and now the group are on the hunt for an agent and, eventually, a contract.
Group founders Martin Weaver (bass) and Carl Danks (lead guitar) claim classical influences - that is, the classics of the Beatles and Stones.
Their style contrasts with that of singer Alex Turton, son of former Rockin' Berry frontman Geoff Turton, who stormed the charts with some success nearly 40 years ago.
Although Alex tips his hat to his dad's falsetto tones occasionally, he's more Stone Roses than Berries.
Drummer Wayne Knighton completes the line-up.
Paradox will be playing The Venue at the Finn and Firkin, Pershore Road, Birmingham, on Saturday and The Sugarbrook in Bromsgrove on July 13.
The band's self-penned EP Deluded can be found in Our Price, in the Kingfisher Centre.
