PROFESSOR Ara Darzi has been appointed chairman of the independent review into elective surgery at Kidderminster Hospital.
Wyre Forest MP Dr Richard Taylor, who dismissed the review as a pre-election stunt when it was announced on the eve his historic victory, is seeking talks with the professor.
He said: "I hope to speak to him this week to discuss what form this process will take."
Prof Darzi, of Imperial College, London, was a member of the Modernisation Action Teams prior to the publication of the NHS Plan.
Meanwhile, Dr Taylor has been heartened from correspondence he has received from health minister Yvette Cooper.
Ms Cooper, who lauded the controversial £14 million ambulatory care centre at Kidderminster Hospital when she visited earlier this year, has written to Dr Taylor regarding the hospital.
He said: "I am very encouraged by the fact she is prepared to deal with me. Far from attempting to sideline me she has asked some very pertinent questions to which I will respond."
