A STOURPORT burglar is to be assessed in prison to see whether his drug habit can be treated.

But Judge Richard Rundell warned Ian Titley he is more likely to be sentenced to custody rather than being made the subject of a drug treatment and testing order.

Titley, 25, of Lane End Walk, Walshes estate, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to breaking into a house in Old Ford Walk on February 6 this year.

But he denied burgling a neighbour's house in Lane End Walk on April 14 and stealing jewellery, a hi-fi, video and money. A not guilty verdict was entered after the prosecution offered no evidence.

He admitted receiving some of the stolen jewellery and cash.

Mr Nicolas Cartwright, defending, said Titley wanted to be assessed for drug treatment.

Judge Rundell remanded him in custody for sentence on July 6.
