A GRANDMOTHER who was lucky to be alive after being crushed under a bus shelter in a horrific road accident has been raising more cash for County Air Ambulance.

The service came to the rescue of Mary Farmer, 50, who was badly hurt in the accident yards from her home in Summerfield Lane in February when an out-of-control lorry ploughed into the bus stop she was standing at.

Mrs Farmer, who is awaiting more treatment in a series of operations on a damaged leg and is confined to a wheelchair outside the house, has raised £612 from a car boot sale with her husband Philip and friends.

The event at the Mare and Colt pub in Summerfield follows collections from friends and work colleagues, raising about £400, which was handed over with £3,000 collected from regulars at Stourport's Brindley Arms.

Mr Farmer said the event was the first of many planned by the couple to boost the service, which Mrs Farmer thanked for saving her life in an exclusive Shuttle/Times and News interview in May.
