SALES adviser Lauren Wood did not exactly find her knight in shining armour when a fund-raising drive for Macmillan Cancer Relief hit town.
The 18-year-old student from Cleobury Mortimer, who has a Saturday job at the Bon Marche clothing store in Kidderminster's Rowland Hill Centre, was whisked away by a medieval man. Martin Desutton - the "Macknight" - took her to Harvington Hall where she had to correctly answer questions on Macmillan nurses to avoid a hail of wet sponges.
Macmillan appeal manager Deborah Slater accompanied the Macknight across the Midlands as he "arrested" people nominated by colleagues in return for a fee.
Staff at Bon Marche raised more than £500 with events including a sponsored walk.
