The June meeting was a "theatrical" evening, as Colin Russell, whose main interests are literature and show business, gave an account of the colourful history of Drury Lane Theatre.
His talk covered the era of Charles I and Nell Gwynne, coming up to date with pantomime and musicals such as Oklahoma! and South Pacific.
After his talk, Colin judged the Flower of the Month, which was won by Barbara Smith, Tina Potts and Heather Williams, and the competition for "a favourite fan", won by Jenny Vanderhook.
An alfresco buffet supper will be held at Monica Downes' home in July, and a day trip has been organised to the Cotswolds in August.
