AS your readers so rightly point out, people with a Monday collection are short changed in all ways.
I always thought the old rotating system of collection generally worked very well. However, I have recently discovered that a lot of councils who operate the 'fixed day' system arrange for their refuse men to work on Bank Holidays and so maintain their collection service.
Being in a block of retirement flats we have two large bins which just about cope with the normal week's rubbish - but not two weeks.
Consequently, when we had an overflow and had to use four very large sacks, predictably - the binmen took the two bins and left the sacks.
I wrote and complained to Mr Moody, Head of Performance!
He simply pointed out the 'benefit and convenience' of plastic sacks.
