EVESHAM'S first-ever Asian food and arts fair certainly tempted the taste buds of visitors from far and wide.
The event in the Workman Gardens proved a real winner with hundreds of people flocking to picnic on the Indian and Chinese food being served up in a marquee on the grass.
Diners were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of Indian music and dance while they tucked into their delicious food and even have their hands or arms painted by mehndi artist Nasreen Rajabali.
Extremely well
The event was organised by Wychavon District Council and Evesham Town Council and a delighted town centres manager Lew Hammond said: "It went extremely well and my estimates are that about 2,000 people went through during the course of the day.
"They never stopped queueing for the food and I have had some very pleasing comments back from people."
With visitors coming from as far away as Malvern, Cheltenham and Kidderminster, the event could now become a regular feature in the Evesham calendar and Mr Hammond said: "I believe that it should become a hardy annual.
