THE South Warwickshire Association were the hosts at Whitnash to Leicestershire Vice Presidents Association on what was reputably the hottest day of the summer so far.
Temperatures soared to approximately 80F with only a slight breeze. This caused the green to be very fast and caught some unsuspecting bowlers out over the first few ends.
This proved in favour of SWBA who were leading 69-42 at ten ends when tea was served. This theme then continued throughout the game with SWBA winning comfortably 144-107.
The highest winning rink was skipped by Tom Cairns from Welford-on-Avon accompanied by Robert Maries, Bob Dawson and Tony Thirlaway for a 25-9 success.
President Percy Rickells presented Barry Bilbie of Wellesbourne BC with his blazer badge, while clubmate Roy Batchelor received his colts badge.
Scores: Eddie Timms, Ron Barnwell, Gordon McClean, Alf Diston 27-24. Roy Batchelor, Barry Bilbie, Dave Thomas, Colin Hayward 26-11. Percy Rickells, Ron Hands, Kevin Lowther, Bill Port 16-30. Dave Ballard, Roy Harris, John Calado, Mike Brain 25-17. Tony Thirlaway, Bob Dawson, Robert Maries, Tom Cairns 25-9. Brian Hannah, Terry Southgate, Paul Dale, John Owen 25-16.
The next SWBA game will be played at Banbury Borough on Sunday commencing at 2.30pm when their hosts will be the Oxfordshire Vice Presidents Association.
