WELL done to MHDC for creating that excellent skateboard park at Link Top! The youngsters are so impressed with the lack of interference from cars that they have even brought along ramps to make a proper course.
And what of the cars that used to park here to shop at the good choice of shops in Newtown Road? Either they are congesting the roadside or they drive on past and shop elsewhere. So, the greed of the council in charging for a neighbourhood car park could mean the demise of some really good traders with the only benefit being for the young skateboarders.
Then there's the new traffic lights at Link Top - someone obviously wants us to be like the Americans with traffic lights at every junction. However the Americans would have had the sense to create a left filter lane for traffic turning from Newtown Road and down Worcester Road.
This new set of lights have been the final straw for a lot of motorists from North and West Malvern who now use the four traffic light by-pass route called Somers Park Avenue and Church Road to head out of town. I expect they are really pleased with the increase in traffic.
And the people of Church Road were worried about the proposed Lidl store!
But what of two real traffic related problems? There are some serious potholes in Hornyold Road which are a danger to everyone, and the speed of some drivers in Cowleigh Road needs to be severely controlled.
"Not our department or nothing we can do about it" is the answer. So nothing is done. The saying about a booze-up in a brewery seems to be applicable in relation to these points.
