WORCESTER Wolves have been given an early boost for next season with the news that star player Colin Chiverton is to stay with the club.

Chiverton, a star player for the Wolves as they finished third in Division Three in their first season in the National League, looked set to leave the club as he was due to take up a university place in the north of England.

But he has now reconsidered his options and will take up a Sports Studies course at University College Worcester, which is also the Wolves' home venue.

Wolves hope the retention of the man known to fans as the "Worcester Tower" will help them to more glory this season.

The club's Director of Operations Mick Donovan said: "Colin is one of the most exciting prospects in the country and the support he will get from Rick Solvason and the University College Worcester programme will help move him nearer to fulfilling his potential."

This season there will be a new look for the National League, with Divisions Two and Three having been combined and split into Divisions Two North and South, with the Wolves competing in the North Division.

The Wolves have also been coaching children from local primary schools at the college in recent weeks.

Head Coach Rick Solvason took a session with youngsters from Powick Primary School and Worcester's Oldbury Park Primary School.

The schools have benefited from the 'Awards for All Funding' given to the Wolves to help promote the sport with children in the city.

Next year with additional funding and in collaboration with the University College 'Coach Education' initiative, the Wolves coaching staff will be going into schools to work with teachers and pupils at both primary and secondary level.
