COLWALL Girls played at home against Barnt Green on Monday.
Colwall now have a squad of about 30 girls to select their side of eight players in the Michael Parkinson Trophy.
Colwall faced a much older and experienced Barnt Green side, who fielded four county players in their side.
Barnt Green were put into bat by Colwall captain for the day, Lucy Peplow. Despite good bowling by Emma Smith, Jayne Brierly and Jenny O'Toole, Barnt Green got off to a good start accumulating quick runs. Wickets fell to Lucy Peplow, Alice Badham, Laura Berry and Jayne Brierly, ending with a total of 319-6. Ella Jones is to be congratulated on not conceding any extras behind the stumps.
Colwall got to a slow start against quick bowling from Warner and Baldwin. Colwall were never likely to reach such a mammoth target but battled away not conceding wickets and finishing on a total of 204.
Colwall's next game is away at Dominies & Guild on Monday, July 9.
Practice sessions continue on Wednesday evenings 6.30-8pm.
