BARNARDS Green Sunday 2nd XI entertained Wallhouse 2nd XI from Cannock in a Sunday friendly game.
BARNARDS GREEN 2ND XI v WALLHOUSE 2ND XI
Wallhouse won the toss and chose to bat first. This proved to be a bad decision as Hooper took the first three batsmen with just 53 runs on the board.
This brought A Jarvis (79) to the crease showing some resistance against the Green bowling hitting the several boundaries. But wickets where still falling at the other end with J Longmore taking the last five wickets for only 34 runs. Longmore ended up with figures of 8-0-34-5. Wallhouse ended up with 178 for 9 off their allotted 40 overs.
M Jones and D Bayliss started off well with the run rate at four an over before Bayliss was bowled for 15. Jones, playing well, was next to go with the score at 44 for 2 off 13 oers. But A Lamb (47) and M Brookes both played sensibly putting on 50 runs in nine overs before Brookes was dismissed by Eccleshall for 18.
Golder (23) joined Lamb and they both decided to attack the wayward bowling of Jarvis and Binfield before Golder and Lamb where dismissed both trying to hit over the top. L Hooper (28) and M Wajzer both played well as wickets were falling and the run rate increasing. Kendrick then dismissed Hooper trying to play over the top.
The Green needed one run off the last over as the injured R Longmore came to the wicket with a runner but Wajzer caressed the ball through the covers for four to win the game for the Green by one wicket.
