COLIN Shepherd has quit as manager of Pershore Town Football Club.
Shepherd, who returned to the hot-seat last summer for a second spell in charge, has handed over the reins to former Alvechurch boss Mick Preece.
Shepherd came back to the club following their relegation from the Midland Alliance, and led them to fourth place in their first season back in the Midland Combination Premier Division.
In his first spell in charge, Shepherd led Town to the Combination title and the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The 58-year-old said he wanted to take more of a back seat although he said there were one or two "problems" behind the scenes at the club, who have had several managers in recent years.
He said: "Maybe it's time I spent a little bit more time on the golf course now.
"I was very pleased with what we achieved last season. Myself and Dave Connell went in there without a side, and to finish fourth was an excellent achievement.
"Hopefully Mick can take it on from there."
Shepherd says it's unlikely he will return to club management, although he will continue to be in charge of the Worcestershire FA youth side.
