THE Environment Agency is calling for Worcestershire people to take part in a review of how water resources are used and managed in the River Severn corridor.
This will then lead to the first Catchment Abstraction Management Survey (CAMS) for the river.
People are being asked to submit as much information as they can about water needs and usage. More than 2,000 leaflets have been sent out to individuals and organisations, including town libraries, local government and other interested parties.
The leaflet explains the issues that need to be considered in preparing a strategy for the future use of water, and calls for comments.
A stakeholder group is also being set up to represent key interests, help identify issues of local significance, provide views on proposals and consider the likely impact of different strategy options.
"CAMS will provide new opportunities for partnerships to ensure that decisions are taken with as full an understanding as possible of local issues," said regional water resources manager Paul Crockett.
"We are therefore keen to hear people's views on the management of their local water resources."
The Agency is asking for initial written comments and suggestions, by letter or e-mail, by Tuesday, July 31, to Kate Hurst, Severn Corridor CAMS Project Manager, Environment Agency, Hafren House, Welshpool Road, Shrewsbury, SY3 8BB, telephone 01743 283541.
