Jodeeka doesn't have many miles on the clock for a sprint handicapper and can prove a cut above average in the Tote Exacta Stakes (Showcase Handicap) at Hamilton Park tomorrow.
His trainer Jeremy Glover has few peers when it comes to placing his string to win races and though a series of niggling problems have restricted Jodeeka to just seven appearances in three seasons he has still been able to get two successes out of the filly, with the prospect of more to come in the future.
She definitely looked on the upgrade when scoring in a competitive five-furlong handicap at Ripon last month and then followed that effort up with a fine seventh of 23 in a hotter race over six furlongs at York only six days later.
This is an easier contest and more significantly back at five furlongs, which should suit after she had seemed not quite to get home over six at York.
All in all, it looks a fine opportunity for her to get back to winning ways.
Mick Channon has a fine record with his long-distance raiders at the Scottish course and Repulse Bay is worth chancing in the McLean Homes Classified Stakes.
Connections must be unable to believe that the three-year-old son of Barathea is still to get off the mark after showing abundant promise in maiden company as a juvenile.
He is evidently not straightforward and was tried unsuccessfully in a visor on his last start but this represents his easiest ever task and if he is ever going to get off the mark it should be in this lowly contest.
Few horses who cost 180,000 guineas ever make it to Hamilton but Natural is an exception and he is worth consideration in the Tote Bookmakers Series Handicap (Qualifier).
He was a cast-off from Jeremy Noseda and has gone to John Berry, who does well with his small Newmarket string.
He has been amateur-ridden on both his starts this year but with the benefit of professional handling this time can go well at a big price.
Noseda himself can strike at Yarmouth where Abbey Bridge makes her handicap bow in the Great Yarmouth for Great Holidays Fillies' Handicap.
She was given a fine ride by Jason Weaver to score at Redcar last time out, despite looking very green in the closing stages.
And the assessor looks to have a given her a decent mark for this contest, which she can win despite her inexperience.
