A SPRIGHTLY Worcester woman plans to sing along to classics from the last century as she celebrates more than 100 years of life.
Daisy Swan, who is 102 today, is looking forward to being the star of the show as residents of St Stephen's Care Home in Droitwich Road warm up for a day of special entertainment.
One of Miss Swan's favourite live musicians, Peter Valentino, will sing a repertoire of classics from a range of eras.
Senior assistant Debbie Jackson said Miss Swan, who lived in Chestnut Walk in The Arboretum, for most of her life, and worked as a housekeeper for the Rev George Gillingham and his wife in Worcester and Ombersley.
"She led a very active life and enjoyed playing tennis and hockey in her younger days," she said.
"But for one reason or another she never married."
Mrs Jackson said the extremely popular resident was overjoyed with an influx of phone calls from well wishers.
"She is very bright, alert and chatty," she said.
