BROMSGROVE District Council have opted for an Executive Cabinet style of government in a trial being run as required by the New Local Government Act.
This is Option 1 of the four options available:
Option 1: A Cabinet with a Leader.
Option 2: A directly elected Mayor with a Cabinet.
Option 3: A directly elected Mayor with a Council Manager.
Option 4: A streamlined committee system.
Wythall ratepayers are concerned the council has opted to support the above style rather than be neutral and let the public decide.
We would ask all our members in Wythall to write to the council before the deadline of July 31 advising them that the fourth option is preferable.
The well-tried committee system may seem to be out of date to New Labour but was certainly fairer to democracy rather than bureaucracy.
We feel sure a way can be found with a slimmed down committee system to speed up decisions and ensure all areas of the district have a fair input.
Please write before it is too late
