YOUNGSTERS at Church Hill Middle School learned the importance of democracy when a top councillor dropped in for assembly on Friday.
Liberal Democrat Diane Thomas took morning assembly at the Wood Piece Lane school after being invited as part of a citizenship project.
Mrs Thomas said: "I talked to the children from a councillor's perspective and encouraged them to engage as active citizens.
"To do that they need to be fully informed so I talked to them about such things as what local councils provide and how they work."
