GANGS of white and Asian youths gathered in the town centre on Sunday following a racially aggravated assault on a 16-year-old boy.
The teenager did not need hospital treatment after the attack which happened at about 4.30pm in Church Green.
At 5pm, Redditch police were called to the town centre after reports of groups of youths gathering.
Officers arrived on the the scene and the crowd dispersed without any violence.
Sgt Gary Watson, of Redditch police, said: "Any incidents that are believed to be racist will be dealt with as such, regardless of the ethnicity of the victim or the offender."
