THREE Redditch teams recently took part in a charity event which involved them being dumped at a secret location 100 miles away and told to find their way back.
The teams - Saucy Summertime Santas, of Winyates East, Compaq Convicts, of Church Hill North, and "Howards" Way, also from Redditch - took part in Heart FM's Run for Home on June 17.
They were taken to Buxton, Derbyshire, and along with more than 200 other teams, were let loose on the unsuspecting public to find the quickest and most imaginative way home.
The Redditch teams found their way back to Warwickshire Cricket Ground in three hours 13 minutes, three hours 22 minutes and five hours 42 minutes. The total amount raised was £115,000.
"Howards" Way raised £1,100, the Saucy Summertime Santas £525 and Compaq convicts £150 in aid of the First Steps Appeal, the station's own charity which helps babies, toddlers and new parents in the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
Branwen Robinson, of Heart FM, said: "The Bog Rollers from Kidderminster out-ran their fellow teams, arriving at Warwickshire Cricket Ground in less than two-and-a-half hours.
"The team managed to grab a lift from a family near their mystery location.
"They were followed by teams on board pink Cadillacs, scooters, horses, motorbikes and more."
Prizes were also given for the best fancy dress, most money raised on the day, Top Team and most imaginative return.
Managing director Paul Fairburn said: "The day was a massive success and all those who took part put in 100 per cent.
"Most importantly, the First Steps Appeal is set to benefit from a massive amount of money."
