THIS week is Bulgaria Week at Redditch's YMCA as it pulls out all the stops to help save a sister organisation in the Eastern Bloc.
Funds at the YMCA in Plovdiv are so tight that its chief executive is in danger of losing his job.
The news so touched the hearts of the Redditch branch they immediately launched a week of fundraising activities to secure their colleagues' future.
On Friday a quiz night is being held at Gordon Antis House in Church Hill and a sponsored exercise bike ride will take place on the same day.
Moons Moat First School and Church Hill Middle Scholl are also holding "come as you please" days.
A team from Redditch YMCA has visited the Plovdiv branch on numerous occasions to help with various projects for the needy.
YMCA manager Tony Randall said: "I am amazed at the amount of enthusiasm and interest that has been generated.
"People have been so generous and keen to help. Hopefully we will raise enough money to ensure that the good work we have created in Bulgaria can continue."
Several members of the YMCA Board have also agreed to individual donations equivalent to one hour of their salary.
