A FORMER Bromsgrove schoolboy 800m specialist, turned rugby player, has dusted off his running shoes for charity.
Matt Rutter, of Bromsgrove Rugby Club, gave up athletics for rugby at the tender age of 14. He went on to represent Hereford and Worcester and the North Midlands as a colt and now turns out regularly for Bromsgrove.
Matt is now hoping he can raise money for the Birmingham based charity, Edwards Trust, by running the 10 kilometre open road race in London on July 22.
Edwards Trust was founded in memory of Edward Dent, who died of cancer aged at the age of seven. The trust cares for children and families during illness, bereavement and gives them a place to stay free of charge while their seriously ill child is treated.
Anyone who wants to sponsor Matt should contact his dad, Bob Rutter, on (01527) 876441 or at Edwards Trust on 0121 237 5656.
