FOOT and mouth failed to get in the way of an adventure for youngsters from Alcester Infant School when their trip away was cancelled.
Staff decided to hold the trip in the Moorfield Road school and organised a huge range of activities, several of which the children would never have done before.
The 35 youngsters, aged six and seven, went orienteering, took part in a scavenger hunt and a quiz, enjoyed a barbecue and had the chance to take part in an afternoon of sporting activity with former Coventry player Lloyd McGrath.
It was also the first night many of the children would have spent away from home.
And all the teaching staff and governors worked as a team as they kept an eye on the children.
Headteacher Sally Staley said: "Everybody had a wonderful time. All the youngsters learnt how to work as a team as well as getting some experience of being away from home.
"They all said they wanted to repeat the event next year."
