CHADDESLEY Corbett missed the opportunity to make progress up Worcestershire League Division One when they were beaten by an under-strength Bromyard.
The surprising seven-wicket defeat keeps the villagers in a mid-table position.
Sent in to bat, Chaddesley did well to lose only three wickets in the first half of the innings, faced by hostile bowling from Hitchings and Francis.
Andy Baylis joined Mark Edwards in the 25th over and the pair added 94 in 13 overs.
Edwards holed out for 79 and Baylis was given lbw for 35 and the last 10 overs yielded just 41.
Only Sam Boden managed to score at a run a ball for 22 not out.
A total of 216-7 left Chaddesley's bowlers with much work to do.
A controversial catch behind the stumps proved to be the critical moment of the game in the eighth over of Bromyard's reply.
Oliver looked to have gloved the ball to the keeper but survived and went on to make 102 not out.
Ian Chambers bowled another economical spell and picked up two wickets.
But the rest of the attack lacked penetration as Bromyard gained the victory for the loss of just three wickets with two overs left.
Chaddesley 216-7 (5 points), Bromyard 217-3 (20).
Chaddesley seconds played on a superb batting track at Bromyard on Saturday and won by seven wickets with 46 overs to spare.
After winning the toss, Chaddesley bowled tidily to restrict the flow of runs and wickets tumbled with the introduction of Bob Bond and Tom Mole (3-16).
The hosts were bowled out for 103.
In reply, Chaddesley went off at a great pace but when the openers fell, it was left to Rob Teague (38no) and Bond to see Chaddesley home.
Bromyard 103 (1), Chaddesley 106-3 (20).
The seconds also played Lye on Sunday in a County League match and won by one wicket.
Chaddesley bowled first and although Jamie Thompson removed the opener for 13, Dave Burrows continued to bat steadily as other wickets tumbled to Dave Perry (5-72).
Burrows was eventually removed for 100 with the score on 205-7.
Tom Boden returned to dismiss the tail-enders and bowl Lye out for 235.
In reply, Chaddesley began slowly against tight bowling but Matt Yardley and Rob Stephens let loose with a change of bowlers.
Stephens fell for 46 with the score at 101.
Yardley was run-out with a maiden century looming at 176-3 with 16 overs remaining.
A collapse left 15 needed from three overs and then three from the final three balls.
With one wicket left, Perry squeezed a boundary to the offside.
Lye 235 (8), Chaddesley 237-9 (20).
