THE build-up to this year's Stourport Carnival is gathering pace after a "fantastic" public response to an appeal to trace past kings and queens from the event.
Carnival publicity officer Pete Roberts is now only seven names away from completing a roll of honour to feature in the programme for the event, which takes place on Saturday, September 1.
He said: "We are now only missing the names of folk who held the title in 1929, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1972, 1981 and 1982 after a fantastic response.
"We would also like anyone with old programmes or pictures of kings, queens and floats to let us borrow them for possible inclusion in the programme."
Mr Roberts added forms for float entries were now available, while there are still spaces for trade stands and any Stourport charities which would like to run a tombola stall.
Ten different bands have already been confirmed to take part in the land parade at the carnival, which features WWF wrestlers and a giant screen at Riverside Meadows to show the Germany-England football World Cup qualifier.
