A LATE rush of calls by Wyre Forest folk eager to highlight eyesores and litter hotspots has led to the Grime Line being extended for another month.
The freephone hotline - 0800 085 2330 - was due to finish last month but has now been extended until the end of July after 31 calls were received since last Wednesday.
Fifty calls had been received since the launch of the Grime's A Crime campaign in May - and the late surge of interest has convinced council staff there are many district folk still wanting to have their say.
Investigations have been started into issues such as land ownership around many of the sites identified by callers, although the majority of people have been highlighting shameful scenes of litter. Council cleansing staff have been despatched to dozens of sites across Wyre Forest as a result of the calls.
Areas of shame tackled in Kidderminster include Sion Hill, George Street, Greatfield Road, Woodfield Crescent, Hoo Road flats and the Worcester Road layby. Work has also been carried out at Dunley Road, Broomy Close, Tan Lane and around Lickhill Middle School in Stourport.
A council spokesman said people seemed to be latching on to the Grime Line after an initial sluggish response, and urged them to take advantage of its extension throughout July.
