KIDDERMINSTER'S Grant Burgess and his England team-mates saw off Ireland 120-89 in Belfast last night to take the Home International bowls title for the first time since 1994.
England's victory in the championship decider earned them 19 of the 22 points available and they topped the table with 57 points in the three-day series, well clear of Ireland (40), Wales (31) and the Channel Islands (4).
Meanwhile, Hereford's 2000 world indoor singles champion Robert Weale, the Welsh title-holder, drew away from Ireland's Ian Ross 21-11 to take the British Isles singles crown.
Weale stormed back from 8-3 down in the final, edging ahead 12-11 and then pounding Ross with a treble, a double, two singles and a double in a killer burst to secure the trophy.
