Art therapist John Playfoot said the artist consulted patients, staff and others before designing the piece inten-ded to reflect the clinic's complementary treatment of patients suffering from cancer and facing illness.
He said the title of the work referred to a Norse character, Baldur, associated with mistletoe, while the work also inclu-ded references to the plant which is used in a homeopathic treatment.
The sculpture consists of two steel rings inside one another at the centre of which is bronze work, sited on red hexagon stones.
