John Charles of Wolverhampton and Dudley Recorded Music Societies, was the guest presenter, with Notes from a Career.
John has been concert manager for various orchestras, including the Liverpool (11 years) and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (six years).
He talked about his experiences with the orchestras, and the many famous people he came to know, including Dame Myra Hess, Rudolf Kempe, David Oistrakh and Antal Dorati.
Throughout the evening John played music which illustrated his career, and several interviews with some of the "greats" such as Benno Moiseiwitsch.
The music included a Brahms Cappriccio, part of the first movement of Shostakovich's Ninth Symphony, an extract from Alan Rawsthorne's Practical Cats, the last movement of Mozart's Fourth Violin Concerto played by Yehudi Menuhin, and John's favourite singer, Victoria de Los Angeles singing La Paloma and an Irish lullaby.
On July 13 David Norman will present Jazz Influenced Music of the Twentieth Century at Holy Innocents Hall.
