BY his own admission, Peter Pinfield, speaking at full county council meeting on Thursday, June 28, made an acknowledgement with the words "we are embarking on a period of democracy".
Now after many years, the political marriage between the Lib/Dems and New Labour, which spends almost £1m pounds of taxpayers' money each and every day, has thankfully been brought to an abrupt end.
The long overdue change in the political structure has happened, aided by the display of democracy by the people of Wyre Forest, which has returned six more independents to County Hall.
I was heartened to hear the Independents firmly say that they would not be in anyone's political bed but would vote with their conscience and common sense.
Of course, John Smith, the long-serving Independent councillor for Pershore, frequently demonstrates this.
